Citation Behavior in Dissertations of Postgraduate Student in Razi University between 2014 - 2019

Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze citation behavior in dissertations of postgraduate student in Razi University between 2014 2019
According to type, this study was citation analysis and based on data gathering was documentary (library) research. Community of this research included all dissertations between 2014 -2019. Sample size included 349 dissertations. Data were gathered by using of two step sampling method and data were analyzed by SPSS and MS Excel. Averagely, each dissertation has 93.58 cited sources. Research papers were the most cited resources by 67.92 and websites less than others by 1.77. According to the language of citations, English was the most and Arabic was the least. Findings showed that it was significant correlation between college type and citation behavior.Results of this research showed that Razi University postgraduate student are using English sources more than other language, thus acquiring English materials is important operation.
