Abstract

Objective: The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of social capital and knowledge management on organizational capacity among employees of the ministry of sports and youthin the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Methodology: The statistical population of this study was all employees of the Ministry (N=965). For determining the statistical sample, 276 employees were selected using the Cochran formula. For gathering data, Farajis social capital questionnairee (2010), Hemmatis Knowledge of Management (2010), and Moghimis Organizational Capacity questionnaires (1390) were used and their reliability was obtained in a preliminary study (0.82, 0.80, 0.78) respectively. Data were analyzed using SPSS-20 and Amos-22.  
Results: The results showed that social capital had a direct and significant effect on knowledge management and organizational capacity. Knowledge management has also had a positive and direct effect on organizational capacity. Finally, the results showed that organizational social capital through mediator role of knowledge management had a significant effect on organizational capacity.
Conclusion: The research findings indicate the importance of the role of social capital and knowledge of managers on organizational capacity. Therefore, it is suggested that the Ministry of Sport and Youth to create and strengthen the capacity building of employees by using knowledge-based programs and social capital.
