The main aim of current study was to investigation the scientific collaboration and co-authorship patterns of researchers in the field of library and information science in Web of Science Core Collection database during years 2006 and 2016. A total number of 2806 papers in the form of articles were extracted and went under analysis. The Science of Science and CiteSpace tool were used for mapping the co-authorship and co-organization network of papers. Analysis of data showed that USA, China, and England were the most productive countries publishing papers in the field of library and Information Science. According to the scattering law of Bradford, the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association was the most productive journal among core-journals. The study furthermore showed that some American authors (Venkatesh, Kauffman, and Bates) played strategic rolls in creating the major components of co-authorship network in the field of library and information science. The study concluded that in spite of the importance of collaborating teams in research activities that positively lead to the high quality publications, the collaboration among authors in the field of library and information science fields was weak and negligible.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the scientific cooperation network of Iranian researchers in the field of social sciences at the Web-based site from the beginning to the end of 2014. Scientometrics and network analysis indicators were used. Statistical population consists of scientific production of Iranian researchers in the Web of Science since the appearance of the first publication (with an affiliation to an Iranian university/institute) to the end of 2014 (9318 articles). The data were extracted from the Web of Science and analysed by Bibexcel, HistCite, and VOS Viewer. The findings of the research indicate that the articles of cooperation in the field of social sciences have been on a par with the following years. Based on the findings of the research, Iran's position in Middle Eastern countries is ranked third among the countries of Zionist regime and Turkey in terms of scientific production. Iran collaborated most with USA, UK, and Canada. The result showed 46.08 percent inter-institutional collaboration, 24.55 per cent intra-institutional collaboration, and 22 percent international collaboration. Overall, results indicated the average collaboration coefficient was 64%, and the trend has been upward, which indicates an increased willingness by Iranians authors for cooperative papers. The most dominated model of authorship was two and three authored articles respectively. In general, the findings of this study indicate the willingness of researchers to produce science in a collaborative way.

The purpose of this study is the content analysis of the books and theses published in informetrics, bibliometrics, scientometrics and webometrics in the world. This study is an applied research. Statistical population consists of 730 English books in the Amazon database and 1069 English theses in the Proquest database that were classified in 15-subject categories. Data were collected using checklists and analyzed by Excel. The findings showed that most books in informetrics, bibliometrics, scientometrics and webometrics published around the world are compilations and publication trends are declining and most of their thematic approaches are the analysis of patents, citation analysis, bibliometric and scientific communications. Theses publication trends are also declining and the most of their thematic approaches are scientometric, citation analysis, bibliometric, webometrics, scientific communications and researcher’s performance evaluation; and the least number of thematic approaches of books and theses in the world are informetrics, scientific collaboration, co-citation, co-authorship, information visualization and knowledge, website evaluation and journals’ impact factor. In addition, most researches of informetrics, bibliometrics, scientometrics and webometrics in the world have been done in the fields of computer science, higher education, management, information technology and library and information science and the least have been done in the fields of ethics, history, philosophy, law, women's studies, nanotechnology, psychology, physics, chemistry, religion, math, entrepreneurship, geography, patent analysis, biology, chemistry, ecology and statistics. The results showed that subject of informatics, bibliometrics, scientometrics and webometrics books and theses in the world is based on citation analysis and is of more subject diversity.

The Aim of current research is to study the feasibility for initiating the electronic reference services in public libraries of Guilan province which are under the authority of Iran Public Libraries Foundation. This study is applied, descriptive and survey-based. Data was collected using two questionnaires based on the Orbis questionnaire and the American Library Association's evaluation tool, one of which was used for the heads of the libraries and the other for the librarians and library authorities. The research population consisted of 65 active libraries established in Guilan Province. Data analysis was done descriptively by Microsoft Excel and SPSS. The results showed that more than two third of the surveyed librarians have the necessary skills for this job and it is possible in this area. The majority of the surveyed libraries have no problems for initiating the electronic reference service with regards to the technical equipment based on the selected software used in the study, but there is a shortage in electronic databases and resources to satisfy the information needs of users. Currently, there is no special budget dedicated for the establishment and provision of such services and it is the main problem of the libraries for providing electronic services. It can be concluded that the public libraries of Guilan province are able to launch virtual reference services by providing the necessary electronic resources and databases.

Semantic Web as the third generation of the Web is due to greater interaction between humans and computers and attempts to understand the processing of information for the machine in order to establish relationships between Web pages in such a way as to represent meaning. Many Studies on and applications of Semantic web show that the current semantic web is not semantic. The purpose of this study was to investigate giving meaning to weave through the application of theories such as the theory of conceptual spaces. The reason for using this theory is that it examines the representation of knowledge and semantic construction and is concerned with the making of meaning of words and using them in the context of conceptual space. This research is applied and analytical. The results showed that the Semantic Web, as an approach for the representation of knowledge, must explain knowledge cognition axis on its current structure and note the user, context and cognitive conditions, tools in understanding how structured and how the meaning of words in context by humans and put it in its own structure. Theory of conceptual spaces by having the geometric structure of concepts and relationships between them can be placed in different contexts and the formation of meanings in different textures with the consideration of the user's cognitive fields makes it possible to create retrieval related to what is in the user's mind. This research is one of the few studies carried out in the context of emphasizing the conceptual context in semantic web. In this research, attention has been paid to the context and its relationship with meaning, and the concept of conceptual spaces has been introduced as one of the strategies.

This study aimed to assess the technical aspects of user-system interaction quality in digital library of Pasteur Institute using DJ Qual. It is a survey-based, descriptive and applied study. The statistical population consisted of 177 faculty members of the Pasteur Institute. Using Cochran sampling formula, 118 members were selected as sample population. In order to collect primary data for the research, field study (questionnaires) has been implemented. The questionnaire used has been drawn from the DJ Qual standards and localized to evaluate the quality of the library services of Pasteur Institute. Results showed that users in status and in the optimum level of availability, reliability, accuracy, coverage, active links, browsing and organizing digital library of the Institute Pasteur technical aspects of consent The largest mean difference between the current and desired status was 1.83, assigned to the variable ‘active links’ and the smallest difference was 0.34, assigned to the variable ‘accuracy’. According to the findings of the research, comparative studies are needed at the level of academic and research centers in order to obtain more knowledge about the facilities and infrastructure of these libraries.

Today, given the growing advances in technology, smartphones have become one of the means of accessing information. The purpose of this study is to investigate the information-seeking behavior in the mobile environment by analyzing PhD student smartphone users’ behaviour at Shahid Chamran University of Ahwaz. The study is descriptive and is based on a survey. A researcher-constructed questionnaire is used to collect the data. The statistical population of this research is 285 PhD students at Shahid Chamran University of Ahwaz enrolled in 2016. The findings suggest that smartphones are used predominantly for connecting to social media, chat, voice calls and Internet access. After Laptops, smartphones are the most widely used tools for accessing the news, seeking information for academic research and reading e-books and articles. The results also show that some of the most important advantages of smartphones are continual information exchange, immediate access to information from anywhere, multi-tasking option and quick searching for information.
